之前提到英國國王查爾斯三世加冕大典，裡面曾播放韓德爾所寫的Zadok the Priest，

在英國國王查爾斯三世加冕大典當日，透過直播，我也觀看加冕大典。

後來英國朋友跟我說了不少關於加冕大典相關細節。

首先是the Stone of Destiny，英國朋友如是說:

"For the coronation, the Stone of Destiny has been taken from Edinburgh

Castle and put into the chair in Westminster Abbey where the King will

sit. Kings of Scotland are traditionally crowned sitting on the stone. [...] 

I read the other day that it will be moved to a new museum in Perth in 2024.

Perth used to be the capital of Scotland, and the kings were crowned 

at Scone Abbey, which no longer exists. The stone is also called the

Stone of Scone (which is pronounced to rhyme with spoon, not like the type of cake."

簡單說，這個命運之石，據說是從以色列一帶，一路經由非洲，輾轉流落到愛爾蘭。

後來又被帶到英國。我上wikipedia，上面這麼寫: 

"命運之石（Stone of Destiny），也叫斯昆石（Stone of Scone），

通稱「命運石」或「加冕石」，蘇格 蘭歷代國王曾站在上面加冕為王。

1296年英格蘭兼併蘇格蘭時為愛德華一世奪走，

一直存於西敏寺加冕座椅下方。

1996年運回蘇格蘭，但沒有復歸斯昆修道院，而是擺放在愛丁堡城堡里。"

事實上，1950年時候，曾有四名蘇格蘭大學生，實在太「愛國」(蘇格蘭)，

竟然在聖誕節夜裡從西敏寺偷走命運之石。

後來被發現後，英格蘭跟蘇格蘭也達成協議，

把命運之石放在蘇格蘭，但是當國王登基時候，要搬到英格蘭讓國王坐坐。

有趣的是，那四名學生並沒因此被懲罰。

命運之石究竟是否真的從以色列過去?

其實充滿爭議。

因為從石頭鑑定，這塊石頭應該是愛爾蘭那邊的石頭。

不過不論如何，它就是一個象徵意義。

話說，這塊石頭被稱為斯昆石。

我覺得，英國人把地名scone稱為他們常做的司康餅，

真讓人混淆耶!
