之前跟英國朋友提到爛草莓。我就直接用台灣英文說 "lousy strawberry"。

他覺得很妙，於是他說在英文裡面，有一個類似的單字，是指爛草莓。

那個單字是雪花!

沒想到雪花這麼夢幻、浪漫的東西，在西方人眼裡就是如此負面。

這其實也沒錯，因為雪花確實脆弱，就像爛草莓「抗壓性很低」啊!

我英國朋友是這樣說的: "It's interesting to hear the expression 'lousy strawberries' that you have.

I wondered if it has a similar meaning to the term 'snowflake' that seems to be popular in English (although I don't much like it).

It generally refers to young people who don't want to do much hard work, but think they are special and should be treated well.

Apparently, that meaning comes from the novel and film 'Fight Club', [...]"

沒想到雪花snow flake是爛草莓這個定義，是來自電影 "Fight Club" (鬥陣俱樂部)。

我本身沒看過「鬥陣俱樂部」啦! 不過因為英國朋友這樣說，加上我聽過不少人評論這部電影很好看，就讓我蠢蠢欲動。

不過，撇開電影不說，我真的很高興終於知道「爛草莓」英文怎麼說了，哈哈哈。
